I melt
In the dusk of now and then, as the sun sets,
Trailing its tender fingers across the world I watch and listen.
And when I see you I break into a run, my body crying out to yours
My soul echoing its love song in the rapidness of my breath
As I reach out to touch your hand
My finger contacts your skin, and you turn around startled.
The sun continues to drag the incessant night across the world
As I brush the side of your face
With my hand and look into your eyes.
And as I look into your eyes I feel my feet leave the ground
And I melt
I melt at your sight, I melt at your voice, I melt at your thought.
I lose myself, the thick ropes that hold my head down snapping like twigs
To lie like my shedded skin on the ground.
In your eyes, I fly.
In your eyes, I live.
In your eyes, everything melts.
And when I am with you, all of the ruff edges of life that cut my skin and bruise my heart ebb and soften
Like the sweet contours of your face, making angels jealous of its beauty.
And when everything fades, the only person left on this earth is you and me.
Presented to you like a gift I spread my soul wide and give myself to you.
Everything that I am,
Everything that I will be, and
Everything that I was
All of the light of the stars,
All the shade of the trees,
All the scent of the flowers, all of everything.
For me, you are eternity.
For me, you are bliss.
For me, you are my sweet return to the place that it all began.
For me, you are all that there is, all that there was, and all that there will be.
And I love all that you are.
I melt for you, from you, because of you.
The one, the only, the eternal you.
